Oh where! Oh where! Did the sweet shops go.
With shelf upon shelf, of jars in a row.
Liquorice sticks, and stykilice.
Mint imperials, they were nice.
Treacle toffee, oh my jaws ache.
Swizzels, sherbert, and pontifract cakes.
Barley sugar, bon bons, and coconut ice.
Wine gums, lollypops, and soft sugared mice.
There were lots and lots you could buy for a penny.
If you wanted the big ones, there wer'nt so many.
The lady who served you, knew every sweet.
And all of the favourites, of the kids in the street.
Dolly mixtures, and jelly beans.
Lemon drops and chocolate mint creams.
Bubble gum, butter scotch, and nougat too.
Parma violets, that turned your tongue blue.
Gob stoppers, I seem to remember.
You could suck them, and suck them, till next December.
Oh where! Oh where! Did the sweet shops go.
Alas they are Asda, Safeway, and Co.
