Astral Projection

Astral projection (or astral travel) is a controversial interpretation of out-of-body experiences (OOBEs) achieved either consciously or via lucid dreaming, deep meditation, or use of psycho tropics. Proponents of astral projection maintain that their consciousness or soul has transferred into an astral body (or "double"), which moves independently from the physical body in a parallel world known as the astral plane.

There are references in several ancient cultures of a soul travelling lands and worlds without need of body, yet physically experiencing the travel. Visiting others, tribes, places, events in a spirit body is accepted as part of the Shamanic energy.

Scholars who have ascribed astral Travel as a New Age concept, do so because of the popularity of the term in the late 70’s after The Beatles and other famous groups took teaching from Eastern Gurus’ It is not however New Age, it is traceable into antiquity.

Metaphysical Experience.

A great deal of nonsense is written concerning Astral Travel. Some so called scholars must all use the same reference library or are tied to a computer which only allows the search engine to present limited sources. Investigate several established religions and read of the experience of prophets and saints, holy seers and magicians who have an experience of visiting worlds and lands, places and in some instances meeting there God…physically and emotionally sensing everything as if in the living physical body THAT is Astral Travel. A new name, a new label does not mean new phenomena. A Rose by any other name is still a Rose.

There are other viewpoints where the experience can be seen as a logical progression of the philosophy that external reality is actually an internally created state. This Psychiatry is part of the Postmodernism ethos.

Kinds of projection

The traveller finds him- or herself in an place which both ‘feels’ and gives physical sensation of being so real that true reality is confused in the mind. The physical self can on occasion be damaged in health by the shock of being brought back to the physical and ‘true’ realm too quickly. Shock to the mental system is experienced in the true physical body.

The realms or levels of experience can carry from a heavenly experience, to visiting a school of knowledge (Halls of Truth/ Teaching) to a hellish environment. In some religions referred to as Chaos or Quipothic environments. The nature of each visitation is not pre- ordained. The experience is relative to the practioner and often seen as a message of learning, a learning curve or experience to be analysed and presented into the true self experience.

Doppelganger

The ability of a twin to the real person, moving through life as realistically as the original person. Occasionally people claim they can create a doppelganger and make it invisible to continue there experiences.

Virtual reality

The concept of the picture on the wall being a metaphysical gateway which the practitioner can access and mentally walk through into a ‘reality’ virtually perfect, virtually real and experience real time, virtual life in the picture..
